Michael Fitzgerald is a writer and editor whose work straddles the worlds of books and magazines. The Asia-Pacific region has been a focus for Michael's interest in cross-cultural exchange through the arts, with a more recent specialisation in photography and contemporary art. Michael studied at the University of Melbourne before beginning a career in journalism. From 1997 to 2007 he was arts editor for Time magazine in Sydney. He has contributed texts to photographic books by Trent Parke (The Seventh Wave, 2000) and Craig Golding (SurfClub, 2007), and in 2007 wrote on the work of Bruce Connew for the German literary magazine EDIT. Michael was a contributing writer to Art & Australia's 2008 book publication Current: Contemporary Art from Australia and New Zealand. He is currently Managing Editor of Art & Australia, and writes a monthly art column for the(sydney)magazine.
